return to woodfire

This spring my ceramic students cast their faces with plaster gauze and used the molds to make fabulous clay masks. While the project was happening, I met Richard Carter, sculptor and ceramic artist who has Anagama and Norbuirga woodfire kilns in northern Cali.  Perfect timing was at work as Richard and his crew had just finished a firing. I met them at the unloading. So exciting to meet them and see their fabulous operation.  I've been invited to participate in a late October firing.  My students gifted me their face molds when the class project was complete, to use in a new project involving some sixty beautiful faces pressed out as multiples.
